Quick answers

The short version of what people ask most. Full detail is in the sections below.

How much does junk removal cost in Metro Vancouver?
Haul Hounds prices by volume — how much of our 14-foot cube van your items fill. A single item is $99, a minimum load is $149 and a full van is $629. Labour, loading and disposal fees are included in the load price.
What areas does Haul Hounds serve?
Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, from Vancouver through to Langley, including Surrey, Delta, White Rock, Richmond, Burnaby, the Tri-Cities, the North Shore, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Travel inside the service area is not charged extra.
How do junk removal quotes work?
Send photos of the pile and you get an Instant Photo Estimate — an Estimated Price Range. On arrival we look at the actual load and confirm the exact final price before we lift anything.
What items does Haul Hounds take?
Furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, garage and basement clutter, yard waste, renovation debris, hot tubs, office furniture and full-property or estate cleanouts.
What items can Haul Hounds not take?
Hazardous material such as paint, solvents, fuel, propane and asbestos, plus biohazard waste and vehicles. Ask us and we will point you to the right disposal option.
Do I have to lift or carry anything?
No. You point. We haul. We do all the lifting and loading from wherever the items are sitting, and if a piece genuinely needs two people we bring the extra help. Helping load is optional and saves 10%.
Is Haul Hounds insured?
Yes, Haul Hounds is insured. If your building, strata or job site needs documentation on file, ask us and we will confirm what we can provide.
Can you do same-day junk removal?
Same-day pickup may be available depending on how the day's route is running. Send a photo or call and we will tell you the next honest window rather than promise one we cannot keep.
Do you recycle or donate instead of landfilling?
Yes. Usable furniture goes to donation partners, metal and clean wood are recycled, electronics go to certified e-waste recycling and green waste goes to composting.
Do you handle property and estate cleanouts?
Yes. We handle pre-listing clear-outs, tenant move-out cleanups, estate cleanouts, renovation debris, storage lockers and common areas for realtors, property managers, strata managers, landlords, contractors and executors, including scheduled and repeat pickups.

Booking and quotes

  • Is there a weight limit on a load?

Every load size includes a weight allowance — 200 lbs on a single item, 1,500 lbs on a half van, 3,000 lbs on a full van — which covers normal household junk, furniture and yard waste comfortably. Heavy materials like concrete, brick, tile, dirt, soil, gravel and roofing are quoted by weight instead, because the dump charges those by the tonne. We tell you before we load, never after.

  • How do I get a quote?

Upload photos for an Instant Photo Estimate, send the quote form, or text photos of the pile to 604 555-5555. Photos are the fastest way to a tight price range, and the final price is confirmed on arrival before we load.

  • How is junk removal priced?

By volume — how much space your items take up in our 14-foot cube van. A single item starts at $99, a minimum load is $149, and a full van is $629. Labour and disposal fees are all included, and each size carries a weight allowance (200 lbs on a single item up to 3,000 lbs on a full van).

  • Is the price confirmed before you start?

Yes. Online you get an Instant Photo Estimate — an Estimated Price Range. On arrival your hauler verifies the load size and confirms the exact final price, and nothing is loaded until you approve it. Know the range before we come, know the exact price before we lift.

  • Can you come the same day?

Often yes, depending on where you are and how the day's route is running. Call or text and we will tell you honestly what is open.

Getting ready for the truck

  • Do I need to move everything outside first?

No. We carry items out from wherever they are — basement, third floor, back of the shed. Moving the easy things to one spot can shrink the load and speed up the visit, and helping load takes 10% off, but none of it is required.

  • Do I need to be there?

Someone should be there at the start to point out what goes and approve the price. After that you are free to leave, or you can arrange access and confirm by phone.

  • Should I sort things first?

It helps to separate anything you are keeping and to bag loose clutter. Tell us if items are being donated and we will keep them undamaged and drop them off.

  • What about parking for the truck?

Let us know if you are in a lane, a tower or a permit-only street. We plan around loading zones and elevator bookings all week.

What we can and cannot take

  • What can you take?

Almost anything we can carry out for you: furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, boxes, renovation debris, yard waste, garage and shed contents, hot tubs and old sheds.

  • What can you not take?

Hazardous material — paint, solvents, fuel, propane, asbestos — plus biohazard and medical waste, and vehicles. Ask us and we will point you to the right drop-off depot.

  • Do you take mattresses and fridges?

Yes. Mattresses go to a mattress recycling program and appliances with refrigerant go to a facility licensed to remove it.

  • Can you take a hot tub?

Yes. Hot tubs are cut down on site and hauled out. Send a photo with your quote request so we bring the right tools.

Recycling and donations

  • Does everything go to the landfill?

No, and that is the point of sorting the load. Usable furniture goes to donation partners, metal and clean wood get recycled, electronics go to certified e-waste, and green waste goes to composting.

  • Can you drop off my donations for me?

Yes. Point out what should be donated and we keep it separate and undamaged in the truck.

On the day

  • How long does a pickup take?

Most residential loads take 20 to 60 minutes on site. Full cleanouts run longer and we give you a realistic window when we book.

  • Will you damage my walls or floors?

We protect doorways and floors on the way out and take doors off hinges rather than forcing a couch through. Tell us about tight turns in advance.

  • Do you take everything, or just what is stacked at the door?

Everything you point at, from wherever it is sitting — upstairs, out back or at the bottom of the yard. We carry it out for you; you do not need to move it first.

Estate and full cleanouts

  • How do estate cleanouts work?

We walk the property with you, agree what stays, and clear the rest room by room. Larger homes take several loads and sometimes several days, all quoted before we start.

  • Can you work with a realtor's timeline?

Yes. Give us the listing or completion date and we work backwards from it.

  • What if we find something valuable mid-job?

We set aside anything that looks personal or valuable — documents, photos, jewellery — and show it to you rather than loading it.

Cancellations and rescheduling

  • What if I need to change my pickup?

Call or text as early as you can and we will move it.

  • What if weather stops the job?

Rain rarely stops a haul, but snow and ice sometimes do. If we have to move your slot we tell you as early as possible and rebook.

Safety and insurance

  • Who shows up at my door?

Haul Hounds is small and owner-run, so you get the same familiar face each visit. You point. We haul. We do all the lifting, and where an item genuinely needs two people we arrange the extra help.

  • What happens if something gets damaged?

Tell us right away and we deal with it directly.

Service areas

  • Which communities do you serve?

Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, from Vancouver through to Langley, including Surrey, Delta, White Rock, Richmond, Burnaby, the Tri-Cities, the North Shore, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

  • Do you charge extra for travel?

No. Your quote is based on the load, not the drive, anywhere inside our service area.

  • I am just outside your area. Can you still come?

Ask us. If the route works we will say yes, and if it does not we will tell you straight rather than waste your time.
