Couch Removal in Vancouver, BC

A Vancouver couch pickup is really an elevator booking. In the towers around Yaletown, the West End and the Cambie corridor the strata wants the loading bay reserved, the elevator padded and a certificate of insurance on file before anyone props a door. We work inside those rules, and we can send our insurance details to your building manager ahead of the visit. The other half of the city is the opposite job: a Kitsilano or East Van character home with a couch in the basement and a set of narrow stairs between it and the lane. Both are priced the same way — by the space the piece takes in the truck, stairs and elevators included.

What the price covers

  • Carry-out from any floor, including stairs, elevators and tight hallway turns
  • Disassembly of sofa beds and sectional connectors when a doorway is too narrow
  • Removal of the metal frame and springs for scrap recycling
  • A clear look at the space the couch was sitting in

Getting ready for the pickup

  • Measure the narrowest doorway or stair turn and mention it when you send photos — it changes how we plan the carry, not the price.
  • Sofa beds weigh two to three times a normal couch. Tell us it is a pull-out so we bring a second pair of hands.
  • Clean, stain-free, smoke-free couches are worth offering to a charity first. We will tell you honestly if yours is a donation candidate.
  • Loose cushions and throws can go in a bag; they load faster than piece by piece.

Couch removal in Vancouver: what to expect locally

  • Downtown, West End and Yaletown towers: book the loading bay and service elevator, then send us the window. Most buildings allow a two-hour slot.
  • We can email a certificate of insurance to your building manager or strata before the visit.
  • Character homes in Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant and East Van: lane access is usually faster than the front steps if the basement door opens that way.
  • Vancouver's own large-item pickup is capped per household per year and books out; a paid pickup is generally the faster route once you have used yours.

Couch removal questions from Vancouver

Do you handle strata loading-bay and elevator bookings for downtown condos?

You book the slot — only the resident can — and we work inside it. Send us the window and the loading-bay location and we plan the visit around it, including elevator padding and any building-specific route. If the strata needs proof of insurance on file first, ask us and we will send the certificate straight to the manager.

What if my building has no loading bay or elevator?

Common in the West End's older walk-ups, and not a problem. We carry down stairs as a matter of course and the price does not change for the flights involved. Legal loading on the street is the only thing worth checking, since a couple of the older blocks have permit-only frontage where we may need to work from the lane.

Do you take couches with pet damage, stains or bed bugs?

Stained, torn and pet-damaged couches are routine — they go to the transfer station rather than donation. Tell us up front if there is any chance of bed bugs so we can wrap the piece before it moves through your home, and note that wrapped items cannot be donated or recycled.

Will the couch fit back out the door it came in?

Usually, though not always in the same orientation. If the room was framed after the couch was delivered, or the piece was assembled inside, we can take off legs, back panels and sectional connectors. If it truly cannot come out whole, we will ask permission before cutting the frame down.
