- Plastic wrapping on request so nothing brushes your walls or carpet on the way out
- Delivery to a mattress recycler where the mattress is dry and undamaged
- Box spring, slats and metal rail removal in the same visit
Getting ready for the pickup
- Strip the bedding — sheets and duvets are not recyclable with the mattress and are usually worth keeping or donating separately.
- A dry mattress can be recycled; a mattress that has been sitting in a wet carport or on a lawn generally cannot. Move it indoors or under cover if you can.
- If you are buying a replacement, ask the retailer whether haul-away is included; if it only covers a swap on delivery day, we can handle the odd-day pickup.
- Flag suspected bed bugs when you book so the piece gets wrapped before it leaves the room.
Mattress removal in Vancouver: what to expect locally
- Downtown and Cambie corridor towers: the garbage room will not accept a mattress, and most strata bylaws ban leaving one in the parkade.
- Wrapping on request, which matters most in shared corridors and elevators.
- Dry, undamaged mattresses go to a mattress recycler; wet or bed-bug-wrapped mattresses go to disposal instead.

Mattress removal questions from Vancouver
Can I just leave the mattress in my building's parkade or garbage room?
Nearly every Vancouver strata prohibits it, and buildings routinely charge the suite for removal when it happens. Mattresses are not part of the regular waste stream, so the caretaker has to arrange a special pickup — usually at a higher cost than booking it yourself. Take it out through the elevator with us instead.
Do you take mattresses from a suspected bed bug situation?
Yes, with one condition: tell us before we arrive. We wrap and seal the mattress in the room so nothing sheds in your hallway or elevator, and it travels sealed. A wrapped mattress can only go to disposal, never to recycling, and we will not put it in the truck alongside donatable furniture from another job.
Are mattresses actually recycled, or does that just mean landfill?
In Metro Vancouver mattresses are handled separately from general waste: the foam, fibre, steel springs and timber frame are stripped and sent to separate streams. That is where a mattress goes when it is dry and intact. Wet, mould-damaged or bed-bug-wrapped mattresses have to go to disposal instead, and the regional facilities charge a per-mattress surcharge — that fee is already inside the price we quote you.
Can you take just the box spring, or just the frame?
Yes. A box spring or frame on its own is priced the same as a single item. If you are keeping the mattress and only replacing the base, say so when you send photos so we do not budget space for both.
