Mattress Removal in Burnaby, BC

Burnaby has two mattress seasons. Around SFU and along the Lougheed corridor, leases roll over in late spring and August, and student suites empty out mattress-first. The rest of the year it is towers near Metrotown and Brentwood replacing beds and needing the old set out of a suite whose garbage room will not take it. In both cases we work to whatever elevator or loading-bay window the building gives us. Dry, intact mattresses go to a mattress recycler; the per-mattress facility fee is inside your quoted price, and stairs never cost extra in the older walk-ups off Kingsway and Edmonds.

What the price covers

  • Bed frame and headboard disassembly, with the hardware bagged if you are keeping the frame
  • Plastic wrapping on request so nothing brushes your walls or carpet on the way out
  • Delivery to a mattress recycler where the mattress is dry and undamaged
  • Box spring, slats and metal rail removal in the same visit

Getting ready for the pickup

  • Strip the bedding — sheets and duvets are not recyclable with the mattress and are usually worth keeping or donating separately.
  • A dry mattress can be recycled; a mattress that has been sitting in a wet carport or on a lawn generally cannot. Move it indoors or under cover if you can.
  • If you are buying a replacement, ask the retailer whether haul-away is included; if it only covers a swap on delivery day, we can handle the odd-day pickup.
  • Flag suspected bed bugs when you book so the piece gets wrapped before it leaves the room.

Mattress removal in Burnaby: what to expect locally

  • SFU-area and Lougheed rentals: lease-end weeks in April and August book out early, so give a few days' notice if you can.
  • Metrotown and Brentwood towers: reserve the service elevator, then send us the window.
  • Walk-ups near Edmonds and Kingsway: stairs are included; there is no per-flight charge.
  • Multiple beds from one suite price as a load rather than per mattress.

Mattress removal questions from Burnaby

Can you do a lease-end mattress pickup on short notice near SFU?

Often yes, though the last week of April and the end of August are the two tightest weeks of the year on the mountain. Text us the move-out date rather than the day you want the pickup, and we will find a slot with a buffer. If you are coordinating with roommates, one booking for all the beds is cheaper than separate single-item calls.

My building's garbage room refused the mattress. Is that normal in Burnaby?

Completely normal. Mattresses sit outside the regular waste and recycling streams, so almost no strata or rental building accepts one in the bin room, and many will bill the suite if it appears there. Booking the removal directly avoids the building's markup and gets it out through the elevator properly.

Are mattresses actually recycled, or does that just mean landfill?

In Metro Vancouver mattresses are handled separately from general waste: the foam, fibre, steel springs and timber frame are stripped and sent to separate streams. That is where a mattress goes when it is dry and intact. Wet, mould-damaged or bed-bug-wrapped mattresses have to go to disposal instead, and the regional facilities charge a per-mattress surcharge — that fee is already inside the price we quote you.

Can you take just the box spring, or just the frame?

Yes. A box spring or frame on its own is priced the same as a single item. If you are keeping the mattress and only replacing the base, say so when you send photos so we do not budget space for both.
