Mattress Removal in Richmond, BC

Richmond mattress pickups are mostly condo pickups now — the towers along No. 3 Road and around Brighouse, Lansdowne and Aberdeen, where the suite is on the fourteenth floor and the loading bay is behind a gate that needs a fob. We plan around the elevator window your building gives you, wrap the mattress if it has to cross a shared corridor, and take the box spring and frame in the same trip. Out in Steveston and the Broadmoor and Seafair neighbourhoods it is houses instead, often with the old bed already in the garage. Dry, intact mattresses go to a recycler; the facility fee is inside your quote.

What the price covers

  • Bed frame and headboard disassembly, with the hardware bagged if you are keeping the frame
  • Plastic wrapping on request so nothing brushes your walls or carpet on the way out
  • Delivery to a mattress recycler where the mattress is dry and undamaged
  • Box spring, slats and metal rail removal in the same visit

Getting ready for the pickup

  • Strip the bedding — sheets and duvets are not recyclable with the mattress and are usually worth keeping or donating separately.
  • A dry mattress can be recycled; a mattress that has been sitting in a wet carport or on a lawn generally cannot. Move it indoors or under cover if you can.
  • If you are buying a replacement, ask the retailer whether haul-away is included; if it only covers a swap on delivery day, we can handle the odd-day pickup.
  • Flag suspected bed bugs when you book so the piece gets wrapped before it leaves the room.

Mattress removal in Richmond: what to expect locally

  • No. 3 Road, Brighouse, Lansdowne and Aberdeen towers: fob access and a booked service elevator are usually the only requirements.
  • Ground-level Richmond garages make for the quickest pickups — if the bed is already there, say so and we can often price it as a single item.
  • Wrapping on request for shared corridors and elevators.
  • Dry mattresses are recycled; the per-mattress facility fee is included in the quoted price.

Mattress removal questions from Richmond

How does a No. 3 Road tower pickup work if I am at work all day?

Two options. Either book the elevator for an early or late window and meet us then, or leave the mattress in the parkade or bay with the concierge's permission and approve the price by text before we load. We still confirm the final price with you first — approval by text is fine, we just will not load anything you have not agreed to.

Can you take a mattress that has been stored in the garage for a year?

Yes, though whether it gets recycled depends on how dry the garage was. Richmond garages sit at sea level and some run damp; a mattress with mould or water staining has to go to disposal instead of the recycler. Either way the price is the same to you — the difference is only in where it ends up.

Are mattresses actually recycled, or does that just mean landfill?

In Metro Vancouver mattresses are handled separately from general waste: the foam, fibre, steel springs and timber frame are stripped and sent to separate streams. That is where a mattress goes when it is dry and intact. Wet, mould-damaged or bed-bug-wrapped mattresses have to go to disposal instead, and the regional facilities charge a per-mattress surcharge — that fee is already inside the price we quote you.

Can you take just the box spring, or just the frame?

Yes. A box spring or frame on its own is priced the same as a single item. If you are keeping the mattress and only replacing the base, say so when you send photos so we do not budget space for both.
